If you don’t have a great load of money, DON’T buy a Ducati. Japanese bikes are cheaper to purchase and maintain.

I love em both. I had a GSXR 1000, I swear by it, ball tearer.
I love Dukes, but for all reliability, cant beat the Jap bikes….
Look after em and you never put a spanner to em…

you didn’t mention the Gixxer King!

Suzuki GSX-R 1000 is a great bike and you could never go wrong with one of those.

Also don’t for get about the 600s, a CBR-600rr, gsxr 600 r6 or zx-6r would all be great bikes too. plus they will be easier for you to throw down in the corners.

Japanese bikes would be cheaper to buy and maintain.
Nowadays they are much of a muchness, with regards to reliability.
Just don’t get sucked into the false economy of lengthening service intervals, this would cost more in the long run, so keep your bike regularly serviced by good mechanics.
As far as choice for you, sit on it, see how it feels, take it for a test spin and see how it rides, choose and get the best deal you can.
