Well first off, this is going to cost you a substantial sum of money and these bikes would be heavy and slow flathead engines.

If you're okay with that, then I would check with Hemmings Motor News and also do an internet search for specialty motorcycle publications. There are a few out there, such as:

Good luck. I think you need to do a lot more homework before you pursue your dream, but good luck with it. Take your time so that you don't end up with a fake or a bike that you really don't want to ride.

Also be prepared to write a big check.

Check this out: http://www.imz-ural.com/
They are russian made but they bought the design from BMW. Some of the side cars have 2wd so you can lock in the side car tire and both back tires have power for off-road

Be really certain what you are getting into. Old motorcycles are not typically something you ride around a lot. I know, I have an antique BMW R69S.. It's actually very reliable but then it's at least 10 years newer than what you are thinking about. Parts are going to be astronomically expensive and hard to find. The old bikes are big, heavy and awkward. Steve Mcqueen DID NOT jump that fence in the Great Escape on a WW2 bike, not even a stock bike. If another reason to ride is to save gas this isn't the way. I reckon that a WW2 bike is going to be in the mid twenty MPGs.
My suggestion is that if you want to look "military" that you buy a 1975 (or there about) BMW and paint it olive drab. Further more you might as well wear a waste basket on your head as your German helmet which is virtually zero protection in a crash. Do you have parents?

I think That I have the perfect bike for you. Check out the Royal Enfield bullet es 500 military. It's a new bike but looks great especially for $5000!
