Eventually one day i would like to have my own fab shop, but right now im just a welding student. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
ya! first .. learn your welding your doing that !
1. decide what would complete your fab shop
2. write down every thing that you will need to buy/use
3. get the costs of every thing so you know how much you need to spend to get started.( you can look for deals but you need a general idea of your costs)
4. figure out how much money will you need to support your self and your businesse(rent/food)?
5. save up reserves
6. leave room in your mind to expand
7. have a plan B or a fall back plan in caes you dont make it the first go around
8. DONT BE LAZY OR DUMB!

Build some bikes and win some shows.
You will probably start in someone else’s shop and might want to go to motorcycle mechanic school as well. You might find a partner you can work with along the way.
Good luck .

Start with a project bike, one that can help you learn the process of building a bike from the ground up. Starting with conceptual design all the way to the finished project. Take your time and think about road safety. If you want your bikes to be out on the road, you’ll need to learn all of the features that make a bike street legal (ie: tail lights, brake lights, some place to mount a license plate) and find a artistic way of incorporating those into design. It wouldn’t hurt getting a job at someplace that does fabrication, and doesn’t mind you coming in after hours to use their machinery.
